Learn the foundation of a solid, safe, dynamic vinyasa (flow) practice through alignment, core awareness and breathing techniques. Understand the basic principles of sun salutes and how this is the cornerstone of every vinyasa practice. Also discussed will be the fundamentals of standing poses, backbends, twists and inversions. This series in recommend to everyone who practices or thinks that they might like to practice vinyasa yoga.

Loving What Is - An Exploration Into The Hips

 September 18, 9 am-12 pm, $45 at Laughing River Yoga

Understanding leads to acceptance. This 3 hour mini retreat will explore the anatomical, emotional, and psychic/spiritual dimensions of the hips.
The information you learn in this workshop will serve to inform and enrich your yoga practice, bring awareness to habitual patterns that may be contributing to psychical discomfort, and help to create a safe space to explore some of our deeper help emotions.
Long hours of sitting, physical exercises such as running as biking, and emotional stress and tension can often result in tight hips. Other times, what we experience as ‘tightness’ is merely our natural skeletal structure. Understanding what the state of your hips are will lead to the ability to skillfully and effectively work with them leading to greater space, freedom and happiness in the body, as well a the mind.

Exploring Meditation 6 Week Series

Thursdays June 2nd – July 7th 4:30 -5:30  at Laughing River Yoga  $60

Meditation is the heart of yoga. In fact asanas (poses) and pranayama (breath work) are simply meant to prepare us for our meditation practice.

In this six week series, Sofi and Lindsay will teach a variety of meditation techniques and help students to cultivate a home meditation practice.

Whether you are brand new to meditation or have practiced before, you will benefit from this supportive, compassionate community environment and open discussions that this series will offer.

Each class will include:

Gentle asana with a focus on mindful movement.

Breathing techniques to help calm and focus the mind.

A mediation technique.

Discussion of our experiences.

Smiles.

Spring is the natural time of year to start a detox as we move away from the cold and stagnant effects of winter and prepare the fertile ground of our bodies and minds to plant new seeds of intention.

This three hour workshop will combine asana, kriya (purification techniques), meditation and discussion.  We will learn how to kick start the body’s natural detoxification processes as we:

*Stimulate the circulatory systme to work more effectively

*Facilitate the flow of lymph which supports the healthy functioning of our immune system

*Support healthier breathing to enable more effective elimination of carbon dioxide from the lungs and cells

*Stimulate the organs to work more effectively especially the kidneys, liver and digestive tract

This workshop will also include practices to help create mental clarity and focus and decrease stress and toxic thought patterns

Best suited for those with pror yoga experience.

4 week Lifeforce Yoga workshop at VTCYP

LifeForce Yoga is a practice of compassion that helps us to become less 'stuck' in our moods and to cultivate a greater sense of self awareness and self acceptance

Through breath work, sound repetitions, simple postures, and relaxation techniques LifeForce yoga empowers us to take control of our more difficult moods. In this 4 week series you will learn practices which energize and reduce feelings of lethargy and depression as well as practices which calm, reducing feelings of stress and anxiety.

Through these simple yet profound techniques we will work to create the space within to feel our essence of connection and wholeness. LifeForce Yoga is adapted to the student, so each individual can move into a balanced emotional, mental, and physical state of equanimity and well being. This practice is perfect for beginners and for those who have done Yoga before.
